This issue was reviewed as part of the JIRA-migrated backlog triage. This is an improvement request (JIRA HUDI-4301) proposing that the HoodieRecordMerger / merge implementation be selected automatically by engine type (e.g. HoodieSparkRecord + Spark merger for Spark, ArrayWritable for Hive) instead of always defaulting to the Avro-based merger.
