   Noted, thanks. `PartitionPathParser#getPartitionValues` taking `parts[0]` 
for anything that isn't time-typed does mean a STRING partition column reads 
back as `2026` — pre-existing and untouched here, and the Spark-side 
`doParsePartitionColumnValues` is what covers the read path this test exercises.
   
   Leaving it as recorded context, same as above. Worth noting the 
bootstrap-merge read is a narrow enough consumer today that it may deserve its 
own issue if the engine-agnostic reader is going to take over more of the read 
path.
