While looking through #4092 in preparation for rebasing #4119, I noticed that it includes both the durability changes and a broader configuration restructuring. Would it make sense to review those in separate PRs? Smaller, focused changes would make it easier for me to understand the behavior and contribute useful review feedback. It would also help to understand which parts of #4092 my fix depends on.
