That's an apple-to-apple comparison as we discussed. Can you also verify if there is degradation between `pip install mxnet==1.5.0b20181209` which is the earliest pre-release of 1.5 on pypi and pip 1.4? If there is no degradation, we can just do binary search on the daily build of 1.5 on pypi after that date. If there is still degradation, we may need to build from source and compare.
