Look at the output, it's like this:

cd /home/.../myproject; JAVA_HOME=/usr/lib/jvm/java-8-openjdk-amd64
/usr/local/netbeans-12.4/netbeans/java/maven/bin/mvn -Dexec.vmArgs=
"-Dexec.args=${exec.vmArgs} -classpath %classpath ${exec.mainClass}
${exec.appArgs}" -Dexec.executable=java ...{code}
The "-Dexec.executable=java" indicates that the exec-maven-plugin just uses the
java in system path, no matter what JDK version you set for maven or the
project. It doesn't use the JAVA_HOME variable. That should be corrected.
