Thomas Schapitz commented on NETBEANS-5133:
-------------------------------------------

[~crashmeister2] The pack200 problem can be worked around by now quite simply,
without downgrading your JDK.

All you need for this is having a JDK installed additionally, that still has
pack200. If you are running on one, that hasn't, Netbeans will ask you for the
location of one, that has it, configure it to use for unpacking, but still keep
on running on the JDK initially selected.

> When running as a normal user, if you click on Netbeans->Preferences the
> window will open, shake, freeze and not let you do anything. The same thing
> happens with the Tools->Plugins. Running as super user it works perfectly.
> Could it be trying to pop up an authentication window that never shows up?
