In applying the patch noted a few extra whitespace issues. Can be spotted with
mvn clean -Pcontrib-check
In doing a full clean contrib check build i got a failure from the core
framework. Possibly due to the change in the framework handling of controller
services. It is possible the simplification exposes a new threading issue
(check-then-modify) and should be backed out.
