James,
The tarball unlike the RPM does not require installation by root and any normal
user can run it as long the use case can survive without the use of run.as and
ports under 1024.
So the comparison with the tar is not 1 to 1.
I will be uploading a patch in the next hour or so with a few permission
suggestions.
