Yes, I completely understand that motivation. And I agree. The point is something we discussed many times: do we want to fork an active project and then have to manually keep it in sync (or not even do that and take on the task of maintaining it)? Or do we want to just "include" it (download it as it is, at most patch it) and have it as an external dependency? Each approach has its merits and disadvantages. Not sure which approach is on your mind. Anyway, I think that before discussing this I would like to know that nimBLE is technically good to use in NuttX or not.
