For that to work though, we have to either 1) allow multiple producers with the same id to be connected at the same time (it seems that is what you are suggesting) 2) add a new "producerGroup" property as a per-producer configuration Re 1) Can you confirm that this is not currently possible? If it is not, which is what was my assumption, then we may need to keep it that way for backwards compatibility (does a producer evict another producer with the same producer name? or will an existing producer prevent a second producer with the same name to connect?)
