On comments page, selected "Spam" checkboxes are cleared when checking new boxes

On the comments page, comments marked as "Spam" are unchecked when checking
new boxes, after hitting "Save Changes". This is a comments mgt nightmare
because the now unchecked spam comments will render on the blog.
The only work around I've found is to check the delete box of comments marked
as spam if I'm checking new comments as spam, prior to saving the changes.
Only the comments rendered on the page are affected.
