One additional note on process: since this is a STIP, it would be helpful to also bring this discussion to the dev mailing list at [email protected]. The STIP contribution guide recommends gauging interest on the mailing list early, and for larger proposals the discussion should happen there before the STIP is marked Accepted. This issue thread is great for tracking the design iterations, but the mailing list gives the broader community a chance to weigh in, including committers who may not follow every GitHub issue.
