This issue has been resolved by #10817 ([Fix][Connector-V2][File] Respect custom filename for binary sink), merged on 2026-05-08. `BinaryWriteStrategy#getOrCreateFilePathBeingWritten` now checks `fileSinkConfig.isCustomFilename()` and, when true, calls `getOrCreateCustomFilePathBeingWritten` which uses `generateFileName(transactionId)` — the same path as CSV/text formats. The default behavior (preserving the source relative path) is unchanged when `custom_filename` is not set. One additional constraint introduced by the fix: binary `custom_filename` only supports a single source file per sink task; multiple source files will throw an exception.
