Thanks @Vivek1106-04 for opening #12896 and documenting the benchmark trade-offs. Keeping this PR at its current head while that benchmark fix is resolved is sensible. I will treat the next rebase/push as the trigger for a complete re-review; until then, this thread does not require an unrelated code change here.
