Synced this branch with current `dev` (`d676f91b3d6a`) in `350157d956d7`. This now includes the merged checkpoint restore-remap fix #12195 (`ae9132fe076`), which was absent from the previous head. The seven rescale test/source configuration files are unchanged, including the exact duplicate-offset assertions; no test was disabled or weakened. Affected-module Spotless passed.
