Thanks @SEZ9 for explicitly withdrawing the legacy-payload, null-handling and wire-compatibility concerns after your recheck. I agree that the remaining handleSaveMode Javadoc sentence is documentation polish about the deprecated/external entry path, rather than a restore behavior regression. My approval remains on the unchanged head; current checks are green. Please reconcile the remaining review state with the maintainer after that small documentation point is settled. This is an unchanged-head discussion reply, not another complete source review.
