Thanks @comaniac for the list! It is definitely helpful for narrowing down the scope for discussion. Looks like we are pretty close to a solution to hot-swap the out-of-tree implementation :-) Looks like the first and the second point are relatively okay. On the second point, we might just want to remove `compile_engine.py` as well. @jroesch would you like to respond to the last point?
