IMO the problem is that the -SNAPSHOTs use the new Velocity syntax (#[[ ]]#,
[https://github.com/apache/wicket/commit/49caf8784f82356975742f76f813669162ab96dc)]
that works with maven-archetype-plugin:3.x, while the old releases use
#literal() (Velocity2 syntax) supported by maven-archetype-plugin:2.x.
If my assumption is correct then maybe
[https://github.com/apache/wicket-site/commit/e069e91aafd71da39bcad2c70209ff940cea9b50]
needs to be re-worked and the `if` condition should be made smarter.
Or revert the Velocity syntax and stay forever with maven-archetype-plugin:2
for all versions.
