How about remapping the implementation for file URIs *globally* by setting the 
property {{fs.file.impl}} to the value 
{{org.apache.hadoop.fs.RawLocalFileSystem}}? It may be so heavy that it is 
useful in few cases. p.s. I've never tried this before.
