Sean Mackrory updated HADOOP-13760:
-----------------------------------
Attachment: HADOOP-13760-HADOOP-13345.006.patch
Thanks [~liuml07]. When the "tombstone" marker of a delete object is created,
it's given the current time in the same place that a new file would be - so it
should get pruned under the same logic as everything else. For example, if you
ran 'hadoop s3guard prune -hours 24', it would delete files that were created >
24 hours ago, and tombstones for files and directories that were deleted > 24
hours ago. I could add a test of that behavior...
Since you're reviewing, updating the patch. Most tests have been fixed, I'm
down to 2 that fail, but only when running ALL tests (in parallel or not),
never when run individually...

> Following the S3AFileSystem integration patch in HADOOP-13651, we need to add
> delete tracking.
> Current behavior on delete is to remove the metadata from the MetadataStore.
> To make deletes consistent, we need to add a {{isDeleted}} flag to
> {{PathMetadata}} and check it when returning results from functions like
> {{getFileStatus()}} and {{listStatus()}}. In HADOOP-13651, I added TODO
> comments in most of the places these new conditions are needed. The work
> does not look too bad.
