Ayush Saxena commented on HADOOP-16077:
---------------------------------------
Thanx [[email protected]] for the agreement. :)
Since this is an on call operation. This wouldn't be throwing an extra RPC in
general scenario , (The existing what was shall remain same only.) when asked
then only. We can limit but that would be little too much , we shall consider
limiting only if some -limit parameter is given else go full only. I think if a
user is calling with say root , he would be needing full of it else he would
have called on specific dirs only. By our use case scenario. I don't find where
limiting would help me , to come to any conclusion I would require the whole
result , say need to check if some dir is using ALL_SSD policy or not. If I
limit , I shall not find my culprit in the limit.
Moreover, if we plan such a parameter for limiting this shall not be just
restricted to sp , that would be generic to full Ls command. The -e parameter
wouldn't be spared too. If we feel need of such param in near future. we may
consider extending that up then.
Would check with [~surendrasingh] . If he is too happy with change. I think
that shall be enough for this to conclude.
> Add an option in ls command to include storage policy
