That code comment reads to me like you should upgrade google-cloud-storage
itself.
google-cloud-storage has explicit dependencies on protobuf-java 3.25.8 and
grpc-java 1.76.2

So, I now think you are better off concentrating on Hadoop GCP and leave the
rest of Hadoop alone.
