Rebased on current `apache/trunk` and collapsed the branch to the single HDFS-17179 commit. Ran `JAVA_HOME=/opt/homebrew/opt/openjdk@17/libexec/openjdk.jdk/Contents/Home ./mvnw -Dmaven.repo.local=/private/tmp/hadoop-m2 test -pl hadoop-hdfs-project/hadoop-hdfs -am -Dtest=TestCorruptMetadataFile -DskipTests=false` successfully.
