Eli Collins commented on HADOOP-9151: ------------------------------------- I think we're making too much out of this issue. It's a small and minor cleanup. It's also clearly an incompatible change - wire compatibility is just as important as API compatibility. Aside from the fact that this isn't a good trade-off (break wire compatibility for a small cleanup?) we explicitly discussed maintaining client wire compatibility after 2.0 on general@ and our release policy (http://wiki.apache.org/hadoop/Roadmap) covers this: "Thus every release with the same major version is both API and 'on the wire' compatible." I'd be OK with this change for trunk/3.0, even though it would be a bummer if 3.0 clients don't work with the previous major version. > Include RPC error info in RpcResponseHeader instead of sending it separately > ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- > > Key: HADOOP-9151 > URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HADOOP-9151 > Project: Hadoop Common > Issue Type: Sub-task > Reporter: Sanjay Radia > Assignee: Sanjay Radia > Attachments: HADOOP-9151.patch > > -- This message is automatically generated by JIRA.
