Good, we are mostly on same page.
However, we need to add a fourth: long-term maintenance cost. If we see a lot
of issues such as this, we fix them during the alpha/beta stage *before* we
call hadoop-2 as 'stable', rather than maintain all sorts of workarounds for
the sake of CDH compatibility. I believe hadoop-2 will be around for a long
while and I don't think we should carry that burden - look at how long hadoop-1
has been around.
