Like the fact you're dealing with older clients gracefully. Couple of issues:
# According to the current practice/semantics, IMO, Length mismatch found at
client side should throw RpcClientException instead of RpcServerException.
# We still need to fix Sasl rpc response format (request is fine), in order to
facilitate non-blocking clients. I'm fine with a separate sub-task for
HADOOP-8990. But we need to address this in rpc version 9.
