Normally I would agree with this but there isn't anyone around to apply patches. DBCP needs new developers and I'm delighted that several existing Apache folks have volunteered. As for the "deluge" of commons-dev mail, it has been suggested that DBCP move to db-commons which would alleviate that problem.
