http://nagoya.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=21053 URL codec contribution from HttpClient ------- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2003-06-27 20:12 ------- Gary, We are VERY serious about using Commons-Codec in future releases of HttpClient. However, just very recently we have had very vocal complaints on the HttpClient mailing list about growing number of inter-dependencies among Jakarta Commons projects. It looks like we will have to run a vote on inclusion of Commons-Codec & Commons-Lang as external dependencies for HttpClient. Regardless of outcome, I do think we should still try to factor out reusable code from HttpClient and submit it to appropriate Commons sub-projects. In case we win HttpClient users' approval, duplicate code in HttpClient will be deprecated and eventually replaced by respective Codec implementation. Who else may need to review the patch or what else needs to be done on my part in order to assure that the patch is good to be checked in?
