Actually, I think that "builder" is not quite right since, as you mention in your reply, ids are "generated" and not as my suggestion implies, "built". So in this scheme, you'd have an IdentifierFactory /creating/ IdentiferGenerator's, and an IdentiferGenerator /generating/ ids.
