Hi Chinthaka:
- Axis instead of Apache SOAP 2 or sth for Axis ? (I know its Apache Extensible Interaction System blah blah ..., But ...)
Axis was named primarily because it was NOT Apache SOAP (ground-up rewrite), so "Apache SOAP 3" was voted down. (Honestly, I wonder sometimes if we shouldn't have changed the name of Axis2 to something else, considering that it's really something different...)
- Mirae for JSR 172 implementation - Geronimo for J2EE app server - Woden for WSDL 2.0 implementation
All fine examples - and I'm not saying that unique names are always bad. I'm just saying my vote on this particular name is -1. Though the main reason is simply because I see no reason to change, this is also partially because I think "Neethi" isn't as pleasant for english-speakers as is "Sandesha", for instance. Neethi might be pronounced "neeth-eye" or "neeth-ee", so it's a little confusing when you read it, and it also looks a little like "seethe" which is an english word with negative connotations.
A -1 on a vote like this, by the way, isn't a veto like it would be with code changes - it's just my vote. If the majority is to go with Neethi, then we can go with that. I just want to make a case for doing something else (leave it the same or change to something better), and I'd prefer a solid consensus.
Thanks, --Glen
