The patch is in fact the 'take 4'. Mike, I agree with all your points. However, I feel that CredentialsCallback#getCredentials() taking AuthScheme as a parameter buys us a little more flexibility. For some authentication schemes parameters other than host, port, realm and auth type _may_ be of some use (like domain for NTLM scheme).
