the short version:

1) install gdal itself, which it looks like you've already done.
2) add the installation dir (C:\Program Files\GDAL\bin) to your PATH
3) add the an environment variable that points to the gdal data dir:
    GDAL_DATA=C:\Program File\GDAL\data
4) easy_install gdal


That should do it. I just tried this exact sequence, and it worked for me.
