Hi Stephen,

We typically have Shure ULX-P series wireless microphones installed in our 
classrooms. In some cases our large lecture halls have Countryman headset 
microphones available to the professor based on their preference. These 
microphones come with the Hirosi 4-pin connector so they can be used with the 
Shure bodypack transmitters. 

The signal is sent through a Rane DSP unit for compression and some level of 
gain control before going to the capture agent. I am not sure of the model but 
I believe they are Rane RPM 22, 44, or 88. 

In our experience the countryman mics tend to break easy and are expensive to 
replace. On the plus side, however, faculty like them because they don't feel 
like they are wearing anything.
