Hi everyone I thought I'd share some results from tests to enable multithreading on our worker nodes. These tests were done on an MPEG2 captured video with these settings: capture.device.Presenter.codec.framerate=30 capture.device.Presenter.codec=ffenc_mpeg2video capture.device.Presenter.container=mpegtsmux H.264 encoding (PASSED) I confirmed with top and htop that all CPUs (4 in this case) were in use. Maximum % use was 390. I added -threads 8 to the ffmpeg command. AVI (PASSED) CPU usage spiked to 130% spread over the 4 cores with -threads 8 switch. CPU usage spiked to 250% spread over the 4 cores with -threads 16 switch. MP4 (Mobile) CPU usage spiked to 390% spread over the 4 cores with either -threads 16 or -threads 8 switch. These results are based on the encoding profiles found in the Wiki. I hope someone finds them useful :) Thanks -- Lovemore Nalube OLE Developer (Vula) University of Cape Town http://www.cet.uct.ac.za/LovemoreN
