Hello Kris

Flowplayer is the "outgoing" player for our non-REPLAY distribution, mainly HD
video. With a licence, we were able to implement features we were looking for
quite easily (logo, mute play, audio only etc.) and performance was never a
major issue. However, with the advent of Matterhorn and HTML5 distribution,
we're looking at different solutions, mediaelement.js (as mentioned by Brian)
being one of them - and it being open source might be a good argument over
rivalling JW player (Longtail).

Olaf A.

Hello Kris,

Our group employs Flowplayer for a number of projects, including Mediathread
[1], as well as for our custom, local services for course-related online video.
It has been a particularly helpful media player for our group as we serve a
good amount of our video files using http streaming (i.e. pseudostreaming) in
Flash and (soon) H.264. One pain point in using the open-source version is the
"Flowplayer" branding, which can be removed if you buy a license.

medialement.js [2], is another media player we are looking at closer these days.

Guess it comes down to if you are looking for a media player that provides
general playback, or deeper integration with your own tools at MIT... Either
way, I hope that this is helpful.

Cheers,
Brian

Hey Everyone,

Looking into Flowplayer (http://flowplayer.org/) and wanted to see if anyone
else has used it yet (latest version) and what they think about it. How has
the playback performance been? What plugins and feature sets are you using (do
you like them/do they work as promised)? General feedback or if anyone has used
any other Open Source video players that offer as rich a set of plugins and
extensions, etc.

Thanks, Kris
