Here are some leads for you

There are a number of Parks groups organized under the Partnership for Parks
umbrella ( http://www.itsmypark.org/ ) associated with the NYC Parks Dept. To
the east of you, in the alphabets are a wealth of community gardens where all
you have to do is say, "can I help?" There is a triangle near Sheridan Square
that is maintained by volunteers that always needs skilled gardener help, and
the various block associations keep up their local parks, tree pits and do all
kinds of semi-organized horticultural volunteer work.

The umbrella organization for Parks community gardens in NYC is Parks
Greenthumb: http://www.greenthumbnyc.org/ . This site has amazing links to
garden organizations in NYC and beyond. As Greenthumb is alas, understaffed,
they may take a while getting back to you, but its worth the waid.

Both the Battery Park Conservancy and the Hudson River Park Conservancy use
volunteers, and the gardening work is supervised by some of the best public
horticulturalists in the business - a chance to learn from the best.

Here are their websites: http://www.bpcparks.org/bpcp/home/index.php

And the Hudson River Park website:
http://www.hudsonriverpark.org/index_flash.html , with how to get involoved
with the conservancy.

Subject: [tb-cybergardens]: Volunteers for Greenwich Village Park?

News from the tb-cybergardens mailing list
-------------------------------------------------

Is there a park in Greenwich Village - near the
waterfront - that uses volunteers? Also is there a
phone no. where I can reach your group?

Any help is much appreciated.
