ACGA encourages organizations to participate in this terrific local food awareness and youth activities effort. From: Monica Pless [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Wednesday, May 25, 2005 12:32 PM To: Monica Pless Subject: Eat In, Act Out Update Hi everyone,
Thank you so much for your interest in participating in Eat In, Act Out week. We now have 41 organizations planning events in 22 states, and 3 countries, and I keep hearing about more groups who are planning events around the world! Here are some new events I've heard about: "The University of New Hampshire Organic Garden Club will be holding a local food drive during the Eat In, Act Out week, at the end of which we will hold a picnic/dinner for members of the local food pantry, possibly opening it up to the larger community (details have yet to be worked out!). Leftover food from the drive will be given to the food pantry. I'll keep you posted as we develop our ideas further; ideally we'd like to have one small event each day of the week in addition to the food drive." --Lauren Buyofsky UNH Organic Garden Club, Durham, NH "A bike tour of local community gardens, date TBA. An Eat Local picnic in the park: We would meet in the morning to shop at the ENY Farms! Farmers' market and gather in the afternoon at a local park to have a potluck picnic. Saturday, August 6th." -- Georgine Yorgey East New York Farms!, Brooklyn, NY Help us find groups in the other states to hold events! We need your help to recruit groups in: Idaho, Nevada, Montana, Wyoming, New Mexico, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Missouri, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, South Carolina, West Virginia, and Delaware. Please spread the word to groups YOU know who are working to build local and sustainable food systems! If you know of groups, you can let us know about them or forward them the attached description and invitation to join Eat In, Act Out week. Please continue to send me descriptions of events as you plan them, even if some of the details are still open. We are so excited to hear about all the fantastic work being done and the actions everyone is planning for Eat In, Act Out! Thank you for all the work that you do, Monica -- Monica Pless BLAST Fellow The Food Project P.O.
