Hi all,
I am an avid PC user (shun me all you want, I don't care) and I just
picked up a Macintosh Plus for 2 bucks at a garage sale :) It has an
internal and external, drive, and a keyboard. That's it. I don't know
if there have been any modifications or anything, it looks intact, so I
am assuming it's stock.
I don't know if it has an internal HD.
When I turn it on I get a disk with a question mark flashing. I know
this means it needs a boot disk or system disk, excuse me for not
knowing the technical term. I have read all over the net, and have
concluded that there is no way I can make a boot disc on my PC. I have
sucessfully formatted a 1.44 disc to 800k on my PC and transferred
system files to it, but the mac won't take it. I am sorta confused on
what's going on. I have heard that the mac plus can't read anything
written by a PC, no matter what software is used, I have also heard that
a mac plus can't even read from a newer mac. Once I get some sort of
operating system and a termial program going I can "network" it with my
PC and run some stuff on it, but as you can tell I am in sort of a jam.
Is there ANY way I can get my Mac Plus to take a floppy not made by
another mac plus? If not, where can I get some disks? If any of you
are willing to mail me a disk I would gladly reimburse them. Thank you.
Trey
