EEEERRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH! Yes, I agree. But, you see,
you'll have to have OfficeXP with its cleverly introduced
backwards-compatability flaws. Then everyone who has to communicate
with you will have to have it, etc., etc., etc. Bunch of lemmings ...
I am looking for a job:
Recruiter: "Could you please send me a *word* formatted copy of your resume?"
Me: "No, sorry, I don't own Word. I'll be happy to get you a
WordPerfect, StarOffice, ClarisWorks, ASCII, etc., etc., etc.
formatted copy."
Recruiter: "We'll call you back."
EEEERRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!
Not to mention the BLOAT. Recycling? What about the meager concept
of efficiency?
EEEERRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!
And, No. I DON'T need the sophisticated machines. Each of the ~50
computers I own is less than 200MHz. I don't do complex rendering or
weather modeling, and I don't use the latest M$ products.
I'll be the first to rally the revolt.

EEEERRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH! I just received some of Jag's
30-pin ram to run Linux boxes. Otherwise tossed boxes.
EEEERRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!

My Commodore-64 is Y2K compliant. This reminds me of another great
technology story about the race for space. Remember the 'Space Pen'
that NASA developed. Well, normal pens could not write in space so
they spent millions of dollars developing this pen. It works, and
still sells as a novelty (it will write upside-down). The Russians,
when faced with the same problem, used a pencil.
I recently brought out an old Apple IIgs after ~10 years of storage.
It booted, then showed the correct time - accurate within seconds.
