Sorry for the many emails today, but I just realised that my new PRAM 
battery did NOT do the trick.  Time is always screwed up, and date is 
currently 1/12/4.  My guess is that I had not actually *powered*down* 
earlier -- only rebooted, in which case the PRAM would not have lost 
power.

Earlier I accidentally put my dead (3.65v) PRAM battery in upside down - 
might that have fried some circuitry?  If so, it's a good thing that I 
have a couple of other Plusses here, eh? :)  Is it possible to replace 
the PRAM?

The most interesting part is what I can and cannot do.  The only thing 
that seems to be affected is my ability to switch AppleTalk from 
LocalTalk to EtherTalk.  Interesting.  Well, that and keep correct time 
between power cycles.
