As a quick point, I believe I was recently trying to install and EN/SC on a
Classic II with a dead PRAM batt. I also was having trouble, and ISTR it
hanging when I made the switch from Localtalk to Ethernet. Hopefully, by the
time you get this, the reset PRAM batt will have helped. I've been using a
Plus off an on, unnetworked, without a PRAM batt for years without a
problem.

Can y'all help me out here? When the PRAM battery is dead, you really don't
need to reset your PRAM, do you? Isn't it essentially reset every time power
is removed (i.e., shutdown)? I was under the impression that the reason for
resetting your PRAM was because the data, stored in PRAM and maintained by
the power from the battery, had become corrupted and needed to be reset. AM
I wrong?

Cheers,
Rich
