Actually, this would still be a Wintel clone since it's an Intel based mobo
even if you're not running Windows or MS-DOS on it. As long as it uses an
80486 or anything like that it's still a Wintel clone.

Depending on how fast your 486 processor is you could run just about
anything... if you want MacOS try using the DOS port for vMac with Intel's
486 Overdrive 100 MHz processor, or one of the many 133 MHz 486 clones out
there (like AMD's K5 chip which will fit right in your old 486 board). This
should run OK as long as you stick with System 6.0.8 or less, lower the
sample rate on the audio (or disable it completely) and if you have at least
8 MBs of RAM and of course enough hard drive space.

As far as *NIX an older version would be best, and max out the RAM or you'll
regret it. And please don't even bother trying to run it on anything less
than a 1 GB hard drive (and make sure your BIOS can support Logical Block
Allocation aka LBA...... some older mobos didn't have this support, so they
can only access the first 500 MBs or so of the hard drive..... if it doesn't
support LBA you need a program called EZ-Drive that will override the bios
and allow you to run any sized hard drive you want and it will actually
work..... if you need this program just holler and I'll send it to you)

Hope this helps, and I've enjoyed this list even thought I may not
contribute a whole lot....
