Thanks, that worked! I don't know what happened, but when I pulled out the hard drive and booted it, it wouldn't boot from the floppy or the CD, but got the no disk icon. But after replacing the hard drive and booting again, it booted from the hard drive just fine. Maybe it was the battery after all, and it just needed some time to get powered? Because the behavior with the old battery was identical to booting with NO battery, so I assumed that must be the problem. Whatever it was, I am glad to have it back.
