Hi listers, I have here an Apple branded part, #590-0565-A.
A Google search suggested that it is a Mini-8 connector, and it certainly has eight pins which sure look like a standard Mac serial cable to me. However, on the other end of the cable is a small box which resembles a Localtalk daisy chain device. However, instead of RJ-11 plugs, or additional serial interfaces, it's sporting two connectors that I'm not familiar with. They're round, like a standard serial connector, but rather than 8 holes, it has three small ones arranged in a T (almost like a European power plug) along with a somewhat thicker hole in the middle of the T. Is Mini-8 just another name for the standard Mac serial connection (thought it was DIN-8). Any idea what these connectors connect to?
