Well, an "X" means the MAc can't find a system file to boot from on the disk
you inserted, and a "?" is the Mac's way of saying there is no boot disk in
it. The lack of sound can mean a pulled speaker plug from the motherboard,
or the sound circuit on the motherboard is damaged.
