At first I thought so too, but considering that a Quadra 605 or LC475 board would be dirt cheap and still be relatively small with a much wider variety of controller options, a faster CPU, much more RAM, and be easier to program and interface with a compact Mac on-site I am willing to add a little weight. Since the plan is for this to be a large rocket, anything that would cut cost and development time is really worth the resource demands (at least for me it is). So as of right now, the plan is to use a desktop board (omitting Laptops due to potential cost, fragility and lack of easy video output) and booting it up from an external hard drive, and monitor with another power source then detaching the hard disk and let the logic board run with only a RAM disk. I would connect an I/O controller to the serial port to gather in-flight data and control valves. And also use the serial port for syncing with a compact Mac or I could just reconnect the HD and save data from the RAM disk when the flight is over. All I need now it a serial or SCSI radio transmitter that will work with the Q605 logic board and a grounded SE/30 and I will be set! Any ideas? Thanks a lot for the info!!
