> dan ...it's rude to simply answer a question, "See the FAQ," without any explanation at all
I do so agree. That answer - short and obvious and accurate though it may be - just makes the list seem rather elitist ...and also it doesn't answer the question ...and I fear it just mostly serves to stop the questioner from asking public questions (or worse, as appears the case with Gary). There's a lot more "welcome" and sense of community in a list when a reasonably brief explanation to an answer is given, and then the suggestion is _also_ made to check some easily perused source of deeper, more complete information. Yes, a polite and complete answer should be given, even when that answer is given for the umpteenth time in as few days. Because this is an obviously new member who doesn't - YET - know the answer ...and if you're tired of cutting-and-pasting the response, I'm sure someone else will jump in. It helps to remember that we were ALL "new" users, once. Unless, maybe, we should just that the name of the list from "Compact Macs" to "Experts Level Compact Macs List: No Beginners"? ;o) ...my two bits (with apologies to those who may be offended, whose expertise - and wit - I appreciate, but just wish they'd lighten up a little on the response to some questions is all). ------- Brandon -- Compact Macs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/>.
