I'm glad I posted. I was about to put it all back together thinking it was
unlikely I could do anything more. As you say, I wasn't going to bother
taking it down any further without knowing there was anything to do in
there. I'll need to unscrew dozens of fasteners before I can try my luck.
But I look forward to a brilliant new display!
