Yo compacters everywhere,

In my most recent post to this thread, I said an incomplete:

To Spiritus ex Machina <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> original quiry:

>>I've got an Apple-branded...labelled as "internal." ... could I, with proper
>>>jumper settings, use it in an external SCSI enclosure?

in part, I advised:

>Place a jumper on the A0 pair of pins to give it SCSI ID #1.

More complete, I ought to have said:

If your external SCSI box has a SCSI ID selector switch that connects and works with
your drive, use it and select an ID other than 0 and not in conflict with other SCSI
devices on your SCSI chain. If your box does not have an ID switch that works here,
place a jumper on the A0 pair of pins to give it SCSI ID #1 or another ID other than 0
which is not in conflict.

Knowing of no standard here, I have choosen to use ID #1 for those external SCSI
devices which lack an ID selector. The ID switch of many a SCSI box will not fit on
things we refit into them making a fixed ID necessary. I use ID #1 for these
situations. And note this ID on the outside of your box.

Bill
