Ah, how true! It's the VENDORS who do all the public-relations to make you
think you have to have the latest and the greatest in software and computer
hardware. Naturally, they have to make money.
I can't begin to tell you how many times PC-only "weenies" have laughed at
my vintage Macs collection, and wondered why I bother, when I could have a
shiny new "and FAST!" PC like them. Then I ask them what they DO with their
shiny new and fast PCs... Y'know, it's funny how these corporate types just
shake their heads in wonder when I show them how my "ancient" word-processor
and spreadsheet program does EXACTLY the same things as their expensive new
toys! Now, we're not talking high-speed web-browsing and high-quality
graphics manipulation here; just the basics.
I think it's true that Madison Avenue has brainwashed the corporate world.
